Dear Family and Friends,
It is with many mixed emotions that we share this blog with you. Chad and I are excited to announce that we are expecting baby #3 in April! We anxiously anticipated our first Dr. appointment where we would see this little ones first pictures. Thanks to today's amazing technology we saw these pictures but the Dr. was also able to see something else. They noticed a lot of extra fluid/edema surrounding the baby so we were referred to Maternal Fetal Medicine @ Lehigh Valley Hospital. A second ultrasound confirmed this and our baby was diagnosed with a Cystic Hygroma and Nuchal Translucency.
This can be caused by many different things, most commonly a chromosomal abmormality. We underwent further testing and today learned that our baby has normal chromosomes. While this is very good news, it also leaves many unanswered questions! This is something that may resolve or it could be a multitude of syndromes and congenital abnormalities to be diagnosed after birth.
We will continue to receive frequent ultrasounds (16 wks, 20 wks, Heart ultrasound @ 23 wks) to look closely at the developing structures and systems.
We have MANY questions and not many answers. We know God is in control and has a plan for this little one and our entire family, yet we are physically and emotionally tired. We ask for your prayers in whatever way God lays on your heart. But specifially for acceptance of his plan and that we can release. Release our humans desires and selfish plans. Release this little one to the Lord, since our children are a gift for him and ultimately belong to him. Release our fears of the unknown.
Humbly,
Chad and Kari

Thank you for sharing and for allowing us to be part of your journey. I will be lifting the five of you up to the One who is holding onto you as the questions, anger, fear and turmoil cycle through.
ReplyDeletePS - I can't find the song at the end.
As grandparents we are walking with you, Kari and Chad, on this journey filled with so many uncertainties. There are some things, however, of which we can be sure. Our God and His Word are true and faithful. We are confident that He gives nothing less than His best to His children and He is active in the formation process of each and every child (Ps. 139:13, 14) “. . .you knit me together in my mother’s womb . . . I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” He makes no mistakes and nothing catches Him off guard. We rest in His love and look forward to welcoming baby Landis into our extended family and help "show what it means to be loved".

Chad & Kari,
ReplyDeleteHow hard it was to hear your news. Jenna and Mark were so excited to hear their baby's heartbeat today and so touched to hear your news. Each day you will touch someone through this journey. Let your light shine to all those in this world that need light so desperately. Please feel free to call if you need anything.
Chad and Kari, we are praying for you!
